A Roane County man is facing an animal cruelty charge after a witness says he threw a dog from a moving truck.
Last Thursday, a man told investigators he saw Jackie Chesser get out of a truck, take a puppy that was in the bed of the truck, then put it in the cab and take off.
A short distance down the road, the man said Chesser tossed the puppy from the moving truck.
The man stopped, got the puppy, which was soaked in gasoline, and took it to a nearby vet.
The puppy checked out okay with no broken bones.
Chesser told deputies that the puppy did not belong to him and said it jumped from the truck.
He was taken to the Roane County Detention Center and charged with one count of animal cruelty.
