A Loudon County community is celebrating a big milestone. The first families moved into Tellico Village 25 years ago.
There were 59 families back in 1987, and now there are 7,000 residents.
The community celebrated the anniversary by burying a time capsule Thursday. It's filled with pictures and other mementos of life in the village.
"We thought it would be interesting to show villagers 25 years from now what life was like in 2012 and earlier. And so our pioneers, who were the first families to move into the village, they provided a lot of information for the time capsule, pictures of the early days of the village," said John Cherry, PR manager for the Tellico Village Property Owners Association.
Friday, the celebration will continue with a parade down Chota Road.
