A Corbin woman was killed when she was hit by a car on Thursday evening.
According to Whitley County Sheriff Colan Harrell, Brittany L. Childress, 20, was walking north along KY 26 with Bradley S. Powers, 21 of Williamsburg just before 9:30 pm, when Childress was hit by a car driven by Vernon Dye, 62 of Woodbine, Kentucky.
Investigators say Dye was driving south on KY 26 when he pulled out to pass a vehicle. He said he saw the two walkers and tried to avoid them, but failed.
Childress was flown to the UT Medical Center by AirVac helicopter, where she later died. Powers was not hit, but was taken to Corbin Regional Hospital by ambulance.
