Attorneys for one of the defendants in the Christian-Newsom murders has asked the US Supreme Court to hear their arguments for a new trial.

In May,  the State Supreme Court overturned Judge Jon Kerry Blackwood's initial decision to grant new trials for Lemaricus Davidson, Letalvis Cobbins and George Thomas.

Thomas's lawyers are asking the high court whether the Tennessee Supreme Court violated constitutional rights and was wrong in their decision

Although Blackwood has once again granted new trials for the trio, it's unclear how long the legal fight could go on.

So, the attorneys want the US justices to review the State Supreme Court's decision.

You may remember, it ruled a judge's misconduct outside the courtroom does *not* necessarily require a new trial, unless it's shown to have impacted the trial.
