A six person committee has been designed to help guide the process of coming up with a survey for Knox County teachers.

Chairman Mike Hammond appointed Commissioners Tony Norman, Amy Broyles and Brad Anders to serve alongside three members of the Board of Education.

Chairman Mike Hammond says the board appointed Lynne Fugate, Pam Trainer, and Karen Carson.

The request for the survey comes after the controversial school budget failed to pass commission.

Now the schools and county want to survey teachers on what changes they'd like to see in the district.

Hammond says the committee will also decide how to use the results.

"I think there is going to be so much publicity of this survey that the school board is going to look at it and if they don't do anything that could be viewed negatively," says Hammond.

Several commissioners say they favor hiring a company that specializes in surveying to keep the questions objective and the results annonymous.
