The largest Massey-Ferguson tractor in Blount County has a new home.
Bailey Farms owner Don Bailey finalized an agreement Tuesday morning to buy the enormous machine. The model has a 167 gallon fuel tank, 6.5 foot rear tires, even a navigation system. It retails for $500,000.
Tyler Brothers Farm Equipment, who sold the tractor, says the size will prove beneficial.
"This tractor's goin' out on a farm. It's gonna be on a row-crop situation: corn, soybeans, wheat, rye-- it's gonna do tillage among harvesting. This tractor's gonna weigh over 15,000 pounds. Take another little tractor, tractor's gonna weigh 7 to 8,000 pounds. It's almost double the size of anything else we sell," said sales manager Craig Thompson.
The tractor will be delivered to Bailey Farms Wednesday morning, where it will be immediately put to work.
