There's the I Love Lucy clip many of us remember, when the ladies are stomping grapes. it's hilarious.
When the folks over at Nolichucky Vineyards asked me to come help them get the grapes ready that's what popped into my head.
It was a different scenario when Photographer JJ and I arrived. I was handed a pair of clippers by the owner Katie's an into the vines we went. Me, a little bit more literally.
After we got the bug out of my eye, sprayed me down for other bugs, made the wasps retreat and tasted the grapes we were ready.
I never realized how many grapes are on a vine. Plus you have to get them just at the right time.
Get to work Donovan!
Bunches and bunches later we dragged the care over to the truck. Shooee. That's a lot of work! These grapes will go to the Old City to Blueslip Winery to become wine.
Katie was nice enough to let me stomp some of the grapes before their road trip.
I'm thinking that it will be awesome! Until I put my feet into the vat of grapes and the first grape popped below my feet. What a gross feeling. Don't even get me started on the sound.
A lot of fun was had and now I can say I helped take some grapes from vine to wine. You might want to see where your wine was made in the future... ha ha Cheers.
