Officials investigating a two-boat accident on Cherokee Lake that left one person dead have released the name of the victim.
William Cantrell, 76, of Virginia, was killed when the boat he was riding collided with another around 11:45 a.m. Monday in the Poor Valley Creek area near Mooresburg in Hawkins County, according to the TWRA.
Gary Cooper, 29, and Brandon Lawson, 33, were on the second boat. They were transported to the Morristown-Hamblen Hospital where they were treated and released, the TWRA said.
Fifty-two-year-old Timothy Cantrell, who was on the same boat as William Cantrell, was taken to Holston Valley hospital. His condition was not released.
TWRA along with Hawkins County EMS and the Sheriff's Department responded to the accident. TWRA is continuing to investigate.
