Plans to reopen the Scott County hospital continue to move forward, but the doors won't reopen as soon as officials had hoped.

The hospital closed in May after negotiations to keep it open with the previous operator, HMA, failed.  More than 200 people lost their jobs.  In July, county commissioners agreed to enter into an agreement with S.M. Promen/Ameris to reopen the facility.

Scott County Mayor Jeff Tibbals says plans for the hospital are still on track, but the reopening may be delayed by about a month and a half.

Officials had originally hoped to be able to reopen on October 1.

The county is still in the process of completing paperwork for the reopening, and the state attorney general has 45 days to go over the application materials before approving the plans.

Mayor Tibbals says the reopening date will probably be pushed to mid-November.
