The Knox County school board tackled several agenda items at their meeting Wednesday evening.
First on the agenda, the board approved an extension to current superintendent Jim McIntyre's contract. It now runs through 2016.
They also formally agreed on what to do with nearly $14 million in sales tax revenue.
$11 million will go toward renovations at Pond Gap and Shannondale Elementary schools. Nearly $2 million will go to facility enhancements at Farragut High School. $800,000 will go toward science lab upgrades, with the remaining $230,000 going toward technology.
In addition to appropriating the sales tax dollars, the board also approved planned renovation to the gym at Carter Middle School.
