The Loudon County Board of Education has agreed to pay to keep school resource officers inside three schools in the Loudon city limits.
Up until this year, the city had paid for the two SRO's, but officials asked the school board to share the costs this year because of a budget pinch.
The school board initially refused, but passed a resolution at a meeting on Saturday to approve the plan.
The school system would need to pay about $60-thousand dollars to cover the expenses.
The city still has to accept the offer. If they refuse, the school board's decision gives the school system permission to approach the sheriff's office and ask if they can provide the officers.
