Knoxville police investigators are working to determine the identity of a woman who was found dead in Fort Loudoun Lake Thursday afternoon.
A man first spotted the body from his home on Cherokee Boulevard and called police.
A Knoxville Fire Department boat was dispatched to recover the body, which was floating on the south side of the lake across from Sequoyah Hills Park.
KPD spokesperson Darrell DeBusk said investigators are looking through missing persons reports to try to identify the woman, whose body has been sent to medical examiners for an autopsy.
DeBusk said it appears the body had been in the river a few days.
