McMinn Co. city temporarily shuts down

Starting Monday, one East Tennessee city will be without a police department and city employees.

That's when the city of Calhoun in McMinn County will partially shut down for two weeks. Besides one or two part-time employees, every city worker in Calhoun was laid off for two weeks.

Officials blame unpaid taxes on the shut down, and say there's just not enough money to go around.
