In honor of "National Grandparents Day," Young-Williams Animal Center gave seniors with a special deal on Sunday.
For only that day, anyone who was a grandparent or 65 and older, could adopt an animal for free. This event was part of the animal center's "Rachel Ray Challenge."
One volunteer, Tim Dennis, said he hopes grandparents would provide loving homes to shelter animals, while helping Young-Williams achieve its goal.
"We're in a challenge with Rachel Ray," said Dennis. "She's going to $100,000 to the winning animal shelter who can save the most lives in three months and increase their adoption intake the most."
As of now, volunteers said Young-Williams has saved more than 700 animal's lives since August 1st.
