Tennessee and Florida is a heated rivalry. The University of Tennessee is not the only place cashing in on the clash.
"This is a great way to get a lot of energy around a blood drive," said Christi Fightmaster with Medic Regional Blood Center.
"It is so easy to pick up the momentum of a rivalry," said Elaine Streno with Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee.
Medic is conducting its 7th annual Florida-Tennessee blood drive. At last count on Wednesday, Florida leads with 462 donors over Tennessee's 437. Tennessee won the competition last football season. The competition ends Friday.
Saturday, Second Harvest will hold the Tim Kerin Memorial Power Towel Drive. Donate $5 at any gate around Neyland Stadium and receive a power towel. $5 equals 21 meals for the hungry.
Both non-profit drives prove the power of the rivalry.
