A 15-year-old survived a fatal crash that killed another teenager Sunday night.
According to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, Chandler Macky, 19, of Knoxville, was driving the Volvo that crashed on Ebenezer Road Sunday night. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His passenger, Stephen Brown, 15, of Knoxville, was taken to UT Medical Center by Lifestar helicopter with serious injuries. No information is available on his current condition.
Investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash.
Two teens were involved in the crash that left one of them dead and the other seriously injured in West Knox County Sunday night. Nineteen year old Chandler Macky of Dawn Trail in Knoxville was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash on Ebenezer at Westland. The passenger, 15 year old Stephen Brown of Crimson Tree Lane was airlifted by Lifestar to U.T. Medical Center.
Officers said that Macky was not wearing a seatbelt, but Brown was. Officers say speeding was a factor. There was no indication of alcohol at the scene.
The Knox County Sheriff's Office confirmed that one man is dead and another injured after a single car crash in West Knoxville on Sunday night.
The accident happened on Ebenezar Road at Westland Drive.
According to the sheriff's press release, the driver of the vehicle was reported dead on the scene. Life Star airlifted the passenger to U-T Medical.
Officers said the 2005 Volvo lost control and slammed into a metal utility pole shortly after 7:30 p.m. They said speed was a factor in the crash.
The Knox County Sheriff's Office is not releasing any more information at this time.
