Another big star is coming to Knoxville for a great cause.

Regal Entertainment Group announced Thursday that actor Kevin James will attend a benefit screening for his new movie, "Here Comes the Boom."  The screening will benefit Variety - The Children's Charity of Eastern Tennessee.

The screening will be held on October 1 at the Regal Pinnacle Stadium in Turkey Creek.

"Regal is honored to host Kevin James at this benefit screening to raise money for Variety's special needs children. I'm certain that East Tennesseans will turn out in force to cheer for this very popular comedic actor," stated Greg Dunn President and Chief Operating Officer of Regal Entertainment Group. "We sincerely thank Sony Pictures for making this possible. The film's story is about helping children which is a great match for Variety - The Children's Charity."

A limited number of $50 tickets will be available for sale to the public at the Pinnacle theatre in Knoxville beginning at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 26.  Regal says guests will enjoy a catered reception at 6:00 pm, before James walks the red carpet to greet the crowd. After the red carpet reception, attendees will have the honor of being some of the first moviegoers to view the latest Kevin James film.

Variety - The Children's Charity is a multi-million dollar philanthropic organization that spans the globe with 43 chapters in 13 countries, improving the lives of children through creative fundraising efforts, well-placed donations with exceptional children's charities, and through its own charitable programs. With the help of volunteers and sponsors, Variety - The Children's Charity continues its mission to provide lifesaving and life-enriching assistance to children in need on the local and international level. The local chapter of Variety was founded in Knoxville by Regal Cinemas in 2001 and since then has generated more than $5 million to assist children in East Tennessee.

In "Here Comes the Boom," former collegiate wrestler Scott Voss (Kevin James) is a 42-year-old apathetic biology teacher at a failing high school. When cutbacks threaten to cancel the music program and lay off its teachers, Scott begins to raise money moonlighting as a mixed martial arts fighter. Most of his colleagues think Scott is crazy - most of all the school nurse, Bella (Salma Hayek). Despite many doubts, something sparks in Scott and he manages to rally the entire school.

In the past, actors like Hugh Jackman, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Will Ferrel, Johnny Knoxville, and Cuba Gooding, Jr. have attended Variety benefit screenings in Knoxville.
