Thrusday, students remembered the life of a Seymour High School teenager who was killed in a church van crash. Courteney Kaliszewski's classmates organized a celebration of life at Summitt Church in Seymour.
The service first started as a small event, then quickly grew, with so many people planning to attend that it moved from a home to the church.
Those who knew Courteney say she was always a great friend and classmate.
"I always wanted to protect her and help her, but she always ended up protecting me. She never let me out of her sight, and I love her," said Kennedy Branch. "She was a gorgeous girl; she was beautiful inside and out, and she always had God with her."
"The school is so much-- we're just like one. We're just a big group now. There's no like, separate groups anymore. It's all God's kids, just trying to spread the word," said Kaitlyn Ouellette.
Courteney died alongside 45-year-old Jeff Trussell. Ten others from Cedar Grove Baptist Church were also hurt.
