Saturday marked the first day of the fall season, and with it returned a popular seasonal industry.
Corn mazes are popping up across East Tennessee, including Corryton in North Knox County. Oakes Farm unveiled its new corn maze on Saturday.
The maze thanked Extreme Makeover Home Edition for its work on a recent Knoxville build and others it has completed across the country. General Manager David Black said it was nice to see the farm get off to a good start.
"When you got beautiful fall weather like this, it's just perfect," he said.
Saturday's weather was very different than June's. During that month, at times temperatures broke records. Still Black said the triple degree heat did not have a major impact on this year's crop.
"It's [the corn] really good and healthy and once you're in the maze, you're guaranteed to get lost," he said.
Black told 10News he expects things to pick up at the farm once October arrives. He said he also expects the farm to be busy next week when it opens its haunted trail as well.
