Dozens of golfers hit the course at Fox Den Country Club to fight childhood cancer during the Annual Butterfly Fund of East Tennessee Golf Tournament.

Four years ago, a member of the 10News team lost his daughter to cancer. In honor of her memory and the memory of another little girl who died, the Butterfly Fund was founded.

Shahid Malik, a doctor from East Tennessee Children's Hospital, said this event raises money for cancer research and bring awareness to childhood cancer.

"Events like these have done a wonderful job of raising awareness about childhood cancer," Dr. Malik said. "September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and it's an important time to make the community understand about childhood cancer. The fact is that there are many children being diagnosed with cancer right here in our community."
