Three children have been removed from a Grainger County home that was the scene of a drug raid, and the sheriff says they were living in "horrendous" conditions. The raid happened at a home on Gray Road in Rutledge.

Several agencies including the TBI, Grainger County deputies and Rutledge police raided the home of John and Eddie Mullins on Thursday. The raid came after a two-year investigation. They say inside they found weapons, drugs, cash and children.

Officials say the children had been eating from the floors which had cat urine, bedbugs, and many venomous spiders and insects. They say the children and officers had to be decontaminated after the raid.

The children have been taken into protective custody.

John and Eddie Mullins, along with all residents in the house are facing federal charges, Layel said.

The sheriff said two other men who arrived at the scene after the raid began were arrested on lesser charges including possession of drug paraphernalia.
