Authorities in Middle Tennessee have spent the last week looking for any trace of two missing children, and Monday, they switched their strategy.

The children, Chloie and Gage, were thought to be dead when their home in Bedford County caught fire last Sunday. Their grandparents died in that fire.

When Gage and Chloie's remains weren't found, the TBI got involved.

Investigators now say they're done sifting through ashes, and they're convinced the children's remains aren't there.

Monday, they moved the search inside to follow up on leads, but so far there have been no breaks in the case.

"We can't say whether the children are alive or not alive. All we can say is that there was a lack of evidence to indicate they were present in the fire," said TBI Special Agent Jason Locke.

Investigators still have not been able to determine the cause of the fire, and autopsy results for the grandparents still aren't available.

The TBI says they still do not believe foul play was involved.
