Several studies show automobile accidents are the number one killer among young people ages 16-24. In fact, it beats the next three leading causes combined.
A program coming to Knoxville this weekend, called Streetsafe, is hoping to change that.
"This program has been very successful in North Carolina, and they're already seeing driving deaths among young people go down," says Mike Lewis of Mike Lewis State Farm in Knoxville.
Streetsafe puts young people behind the wheel in a safe environment, but gives the driver obstacles and distractions they have to work through.
The program, coordinated by Mike Lewis State Farm, will take place at Bearden High School on Saturday, October 6th from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm.
