A 25-year-old Knoxville man was killed when he lost control of his SUV while fleeing from a KPD officer Thursday morning.  Police say the man had sped away after he drove up on several officers searching for another man.

In a press release, a KPD Spokesman says an officer saw a driver run a stop sign on Coffey Street around 3:30 a.m.  The driver stopped his SUV and ran when the officer tried to pull him over.  The SUV rolled back and damaged the officer's car.

Brandon Parris who was driving a different SUV saw one of the several officers who arrived to help the search.  Parris quickly turned around and sped away.

Police say Parris' SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed and crashed into a utility pole and a tree.  It then flipped and hit another tree.  Parrish was declared dead on the scene of the accident.

Police say the officer who followed Parris never turned on her lights or siren.

The first driver has not been located or identified.
