A former inmate of the Greene County jail is suing, claiming that he was beaten severely while behind bars.
The alleged assault took place in September 2011.
Court documents claim that Dustin Lee Riedel was housed in a pod designed to hold 32 inmates, but there were about 80 inside when he was attacked.
He says two men beat him and kicked him in the head repeatedly, caving in the left side of his face and crushing his eye socket.
Riedel alleges that the jail is too overcrowded and the officers don't maintain order properly.
He is asking for $3 million dollars in damages.
