A federal grand jury in Greeneville has indicted a North Carolina woman on sex trafficking charges.
20-year-old Alexandra Nicole Berte is accused of bring women across state lines for prostitution.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol first arrested Berte last month after officers stopped her for speeding in Cocke County. Three other women were inside the car she was driving. After talking to them, deputies found they were involved in a human trafficking scheme.
Deputies released the other women and arrested Berte. If convicted, Berte faces a maximum of 10 years in prison.
