After more than a decade of planning, the "real" birthplace of country music is getting its own museum in downtown Bristol.
Right now, the building is now pieces with a lot of work that needs to be done, but soon construction will begin, and by August of 2014, the birthplace of country museum is set to be open.
The attraction will include the history of the region, along with some traveling exhibits.
"It is very important for us to give the birthplace of country music a home. We owe it to so many different people, from the first time when they dreamed up forming the BCMA, to where we are today," said Leah Ross, the BCMA executive director.
The museum will be an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, and will meet all guidelines of the American Association of Museums.
