A teenager from Big Stone Gap, Virginia died Thursday, nearly two weeks after being injured in a wreck in Jefferson County.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the crash happened at the I-40 / I-81 split on September 23.

Austin Collins, 16, was a passenger in a truck that troopers said clipped another vehicle in the eastbound lanes.

Collins died Thursday, troopers said.

He was one of six people in the 1996 Chevy S10 that flipped and landed on its top after it clipped the other vehicle. Troopers said the truck was changing lanes, trying to move from eastbound I-40 onto a lane for I-81.

The five other people in the truck were injured.  All of them are from Big Stone Gap.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
