Farragut High School students loaded up their decorated cars with donated cans and delivered them to the Love Kitchen on Friday afternoon.
The school estimates it collected about 10,000 cans of food for the local non-profit. Students and the community also raised nearly $2,500 for the Love Kitchen through a collection at the Bearden football game and a pancake breakfast.
This was the school's first year raising money and food donations for the Love Kitchen.
"We've enjoyed, you know, traveling down here-- having the "Love Train" caravan down here with our cars. I don't know-- it's a new tradition, but we are really happy, and we think it's a great, great start," said Ethan Young, student government president.
Helen and Ellen say Farragut High School's support is "fantastic." The sisters were not able to be there when the students dropped off the food, but they say the school's help will go a long way.
