Smyrna police are still on the scene of an apparent murder-suicide at a home on Bolton Drive this morning in Rutherford County, where it is believed an 8-year-old awoke to discover his parents dead this morning.

Smyrna Police Chief Kevin Arnold said preliminarily it appears that Adytia Ramotar, 37, killed his 34-year-old ex-wife, Sharon Forbes, before killing himself.

"We've learned so far that they were married at one point, they divorced and they were most recently in the process of reconciling," Arnold said.

Police were first called to their 1224 Bolton Drive home around 6:41 a.m., when a neighbor contacted police in reference to an eight-year-old child showing up at the front door saying that Ramotar and Forbes were dead.

"Our crime scene detail is still inside the home, and we could be here for another hour or up to eight hours," Arnold said around 10:30 a.m. "It's just not clear how long it will be at this point."
