Jefferson County authorities are searching for a missing school bus.

Sheriff Bud McCoig said the bus disappered from the driver's home on R.H. Ellis Road in Dandridge. The driver parks the bus at his home in between his routes.

Authorities believe the bus was stolen between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Wednesday.

The driver reported hearing his dogs barking around 8 p.m., but didn't notice the bus was missing until he prepared to start his route Thursday morning.

The bus is a yellow Thomas with the number 46.

The bus serves all Jefferson County schools. The driver was able to use another bus to complete his routes Thursday.

Sheriff Bud McCoig said someone reported seeing the bus behind a service station near exit 415 around 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Anyone that sees the bus or has any information on its whereabouts is asked to call the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department at (865) 471-6000.
