It's beginning to look a little bit like Christmas in Downtown Knoxville.

City crews are putting up holiday lights in Market Square, Krutch Park and other surrounding areas, but don't worry, the lights won't actually be lit until after Thanksgiving.

The city says crews have to start early to get all the lights in place in time for the kickoff to the Christmas in the City festivities. Crews started putting up the lights last week, and began untangling and testing them several weeks ago.

A full schedule for Christmas in the City has not yet been released, but it traditionally kicks off with the opening of the Market Square ice rink and a tree lighting ceremony the day after Thanksgiving.
