The two Back Yard Burgers locations in Knoxville say they are not in danger of closing after the company declared bankruptcy on Wednesday. Representatives with the company say the West Knox County and Maryville locations are franchise-owned, and will stay open.

The family-owned franchise has been operating in Knoxville since 1987.

Some locations in other parts of Tennessee and in other states have announced they are closing.

The Bearden location closed earlier this year because of a leasing issue when the building was sold, and was not related to the bankruptcy.
