The fate of Derek Dooley filled conversations around Neyland Stadium after Tennessee's 44-13 loss to top-ranked Alabama on Saturday night.
Fans pointed to the teams sub-par performance in the SEC under Dooley as part of the reason they believe Tennessee should make a change. Some even told 10News they believed a win against Alabama would not be enough to make them forget Dooley's overall record against ranked teams.
"Derek Dooley is like maybe Mike Shula [former Alabama coach]," said Vols fan Wes Smith. "A little in over his head, a good guy, but not what it takes for UT to get atop the SEC."
Dooley does have some supporters in Big Orange Country. A couple of fans blamed the players for the Vols' woes.
"The whole team's struggling," said Vols fan Eddie Logan. "He's [Dooley] not on the field, he can't do everything to execute, he's putting them in the position, we just got to execute better."
