People in West Knoxville worked together making blankets, so babies in East Tennessee hospitals can keep warm while they sleep.

Volunteers gathered at the Jamison Inn to participate in "A Spark of Kindness." This project makes blankets for babies housed in the neonatal intensive care unit.

These babies will be able to take these blankets home with them when they're finally released.

Organizers, like Amber White, said this is just a small token to help out families who have to spend the holidays in the hospital.

"It's something they can have with them," said White. "It's a keepsake and it helps their parents too because it's a hard process for parents to have children in the NICU, so having that little bit of kindness, just to show them that somebody does care and realizes what's going on makes a difference."

"A Spark of Kindness" hopes to donate at least 30 blankets to area NICU nurseries.
