(WLEX-TV) A man and woman were airlifted to UT Medical Center Wednesday afternoon after a mobile home they were working on collapsed on them in Whitley County.
The incident happened at about 3:30 p.m. on Colonel Hollow Road in the Rockholds community. Investigators say the two were working on the mobile home, when cinder blocks holding it up gave way, and the home collapsed on top of them.
Whitley County Sheriff Colan Harrell described how the rescue crews got the victims out.
"They removed them with the use of hydraulic airbags. Hydraulic airbag is like a big balloon, just as simple as it comes, just fill it with air and raised it up," explained Harrell.
The sheriff has identified the victims as Roger Alsip, 43, and Jackie Perry, 40. Both were airlifted to a hospital in Nashville with undisclosed injuries.
A woman on scene called for help. Neighbors tell us, it was just yesterday, when the mobile home was moved to the property.
