KUB sends crews for Hurricane Sandy relief

KUB has sent crews to help out with potential power problems along the east coast because of Hurricane Sandy.

A KUB spokesperson said eight contract line crews are traveling to Maryland to assist with the massive power outages that are expected.

The spokesperson said the contractors are from Pike Electric, and they're already staged in Maryland.

The Knoxville branch of the Red Cross said it deployed two volunteers and its emergency response vehicle and its emergency response vehicle to assist with emergency relief.

Officials said they are stationed in Ashburn, Va. and have already set up supply stations.
