For more than a year, a Knox County organization that helps hundreds of home-bound seniors everyday has been in need of some help itself.
The June 2011 storms badly damaged the roof of the Mobile Meals kitchen. Its ceiling later collapsed.
Since then, the kitchen staff has been cooking meals in the old convention center kitchen. They've also worked with insurance, even turned to the community to find the funds to repair the roof.
On Thursday, Mobile Meals celebrated the re-opening of its kitchen. The kitchen staff moved in last week, and they hit the ground running.
Even in the temporary kitchen, and during the move, they haven't missed a single meal.
Mobile Meals thanked Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett with his help with fundraising efforts.
The organization serves about 1,800 meals each day.
