Knoxville man convicted in wife's murder

A jury convicted Joseph Rivera of first degree murder in the death of his wife, Michelle.

A jury sentenced Rivera to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The trial began Monday for a man accused of killing his estranged wife in 2010.

Joseph Rivera is charged with first degree murder of his wife Michelle.

Officers found Christene Rivera, known to friends as Michelle, dead inside her home in June 2010.

The couple separated six months before her death, and investigators said Michelle had an order of protection against her husband.

Jury selection finished on Monday, and both the defense and the prosecution began their opening statements.
