Although Veterans Day is on Sunday, on Thursday in Oak Ridge the Department of Energy paid tribute to our nation's veterans.
"All those veterans who was a part of this great institution and the freedom that we share, I salute them," said Freddie Owens.
Vietnam War veteran Freddie Owens served as Thursday's featured speaker. He has received nearly a dozen military decorations.
DOE employees gathered at the Museum of Science and Energy to hear Owens and several other speakers. This is an annual event, and this year they honored those who served and died in Vietnam.
On Friday, you can join the city of Knoxville in celebrating East Tennessee's veterans. The city's annual Veterans Day Parade will take place in Downtown Knoxville. The parade starts at the Civic Coliseum, then continues down Gay Street.
If you can't make it to the parade in person, you can watch on 10News 2 starting at 11. If you miss it then, it will also re-air Saturday night at 8 p.m.
