More than 200 student musicians shared their talents with the community on Monday night. The Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestra performed its first program of the season at the Tennessee Theatre.
The concert featured performances from all five youth orchestras. The orchestras are made up of more than 265 students from across East Tennessee and Southeast Kentucky. Levels range from the host advanced high schoolers who have played instruments for 10 years to beginners.
"The heartwarming things and the thing that always impresses the audience is little 8 and 9-year-old kids coming onto the stage for the first time playing their instruments. The quality is just astounding. It will blow you away," said Kathy Hart-Reilly.
Students auditioned for a spot in the symphony back in August. They practice every Monday night.
