A Sweetwater man is accused of cattle rustling.

Deputies said 22-year-old Gary Hill stole four cows in McMinn County. He was captured at a livestock sale in Georgia.

Farmer Kevia Elliott fell victim to the theft.  Elliott's farm is located near Englewood.

The farmer went to feed her cattle when she noticed several animals were missing.

The McMinn County Sheriff's Office was notified.

Elliott's quick thinking helped catch Gary Hill and save her cattle.  The farmer called livestock auction facilities who were having sales.

All four cows were discovered at an auction barn in Calhoun, Georgia.

"They pretty much knew those were the cattle," Elliott said.  "They had the descriptions sitting there."

"They staged the sale to delay it long enough to confirm the cattle were hers," said McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy.  "When the gentleman came back to get his check the Calhoun Police Department was waiting for him."

Elliott's livestock have returned to her farm.

Gary Hill Faces theft and trespassing charges, according to Sheriff Guy.  The suspect remains in the Gordon County, Georgia jail.

Sheriff Guy said Hill has been connected to similar cow rustling cases in Monroe and Loudon counties.
