Fire crews continue to battle a large wildfire on Short Mountain in Hawkins County. At last check, about 2,200 acres have burned.
Firefighters say the land is rugged, making it difficult to put out the blaze. They are still working to contain it.
The U.S. Forestry Service has battled dozens of smaller fires in the past few days. Because of the fire danger, officials did not grant any burn permits on Wednesday in East Tennessee. Permits are required for outdoor burning until May 15.
