It was another busy Black Friday. While some stores opened Thanksgiving night, West Town Mall waited until midnight to open up for the bargain hunting shoppers.
Ramona Dew and her family have been shopping on Black Friday for 15 years, "We like the excitement. When she (daughter) first came her first experience she was in a stroller."
Ramona's daughter, Mary Elizabeth, was just eight months old, but now as a teenager, she's all in on the early morning shopping frenzy.
"It's really exhilarating and it keeps you going," said Mary Elizabeth.
Thousands of people flooded West Town Mall all to get good deals. The mall was thrilled with the early morning crowd.
"Its been exciting, energizing," said mall manager David Huesser, "You sort of think, how can you go without sleep? You are like there is so much energy."
Some shoppers literally shopped till they dropped and took a little nap in the middle of the mall.
Kaylie Coward and Michelle Moates drove from Roane County to West Knoxville just for the sales.
As for Kaylie, she didn't mind the waiting in line. "I thought waiting in line was the best part," Coward said. "We did the wave in line. We met tons of new people."
For some, the sales weren't enough to drag them out of bed, but for others like Michelle, the sales are "definitely worth it."
As for Ramona and her family, they planned to keep shopping and finally sleep, "When we get home, probably about 7:00 at night."
West Town Mall is open until 10:00 p.m. Friday and many stores are also open late in and around Knoxville.
