Knoxville's annual Christmas in the City events are kicking off on Friday with lights, music, and ice.

The Holidays on Ice rink opened on Market Square at 10:00 a.m. Friday. It will continue through January 6, 2013. Admission is $10 for adults and $7 for children 12 years and younger.  The hours are posted on the Christmas in the City web site.

The Regal Celebration of lights is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Friday in Krutch Park. The evening includes caroling, marshmallow roasting, pictures with Santa, hot cocoa, face painting, balloon animals, and of course the lighting of Knoxville's 38-foot-tall Christmas tree on Gay Street.

The WDVX Holiday Ho-Ho-Hoedown begins at 5:00 p.m. Friday on the Market Square Stage. Entertainment will continue until 9:00 p.m. with a focus on the music of Christmas past, present, and future to match the city's "A Knoxville Christmas Carol" theme.
