Black Fridays is over, but local businesses are still hoping to get a boost from holiday shoppers.
On Saturday, many East Tennesseans focused on promoting local businesses. Lots of people visited Oak Ridge today to support local stores in that community for "Small Business Saturday."
"Small Business Saturday" is a growing trend across the country, which promotes small local businesses.
In Oak Ridge's Jackson Square, shoppers listened to live music and checked out local arts and crafts on Saturday.
Local business owner Marie Bullock said she was thankful for the sales boost to her store, Heaven Scent's, bottom line.
"I think it just brings good awareness to the people in the community that there is more out there, and it's worth checking out," said Bullock. "We're trying to appeal to the people that like to have a gift that is one of a kind and is locally made."
"Small Business Saturday" began in 2010 and has become more popular each year.
