Knoxville firefighters said a family dog died in a house fire Sunday.
The Knoxville Fire Department said nobody was home when a fire sparked at a home on Cecil Avenue, but a dog inside died.
Firefighters said the call came in just before 7 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, flames were shooting through the front living room window.
Firefighters said the front of the home is severely damaged and inhabitable.
The homeowner was at church when the fire broke out. Officials are notifying extended family and the Red Cross for assistance.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
