A five-year-old girl is in stable condition after she was dragged by a horse in Townsend over the weekend.
According to a Blount County police report, the girl was riding horses with her parents near the Next to Heaven Riding Stables off Wears Valley Road on Saturday.
The horses were spooked when they were turned around on the trail to go in a different direction than they were used to, and the child's horse ended up throwing her off and dragging her a short distance.
Lifestar transported her to UT Medical Center with a fractured skull and a cut on her head.
The family is from India, but now live in Ohio.
