On an ESPN radio show Wednesday morning, Jon Gruden denied a wide-spread rumor he was offered part ownership of the Cleveland Browns as part payment to coach the University of Tennessee Vols football team.

The Monday Night Football analyst has been one of the most talked-about potential coaches on Vol fans' wish lists.

When asked on ESPN's "Mike and Mike Show" if he "had a contract in hand from the University of Tennessee" that included a part of the Jimmy Haslam-owned Browns, Gruden replied "No."

Quickly changing the subject, Gruden went on to say, "I'm just excited about Monday Night Football."

Whether or not a deal with the University of Tennessee not involving ownership of the Cleveland Browns is on the table was not brought up in the interview.
