Talk is Cheap Tour
The museum of Appalachia will welcome the "Talk is Cheap Tour" on Friday, November 30 at 7pm .
East Tennessee's most talented storytellers, Bill Landry, Sam Venable, Elizabeth Rose and Jim Claborn will offer an inviting mixture of humor, heart and holiday fun as seen through their eyes, reminiscences, and observations. These four come together from a diverse background. A newspaper columnist, television personality, middle school principal, and a retired schoolteacher in their everyday lives are transformed on stage into classic presenters of life in East Tennessee both in stories and ballads.
Friday's performance will be taped for an upcoming Heartland Series Special.

Bijou Awards Youth Talent Competition

Knoxville-area high school students will compete for a chance to perform on the historic Bijou Theatre stage - and win prizes worth $1,500 - in the first annual Bijou Awards, presented by the Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union.
The gala final round, complete with a blue carpet entrance and celebrity judges, will take place at the Bijou Theatre on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 7pm.
The winners in each category will be awarded $1,000, with an additional $500 going to the student's school or organization in his or her name.
Categories: Solo Singing (Male), Solo Singing (Female), Ensemble Singing, Acting (Male), Acting (Female) and Creative Writing.
Students in the Singing and Acting categories may audition at South Doyle High School (Jan. 12, 2013), Webb School of Knoxville (Jan. 19) or Central High School (Feb. 2). The deadline for the Creative Writing entries is March 1, 2013.
